Nowadays the Primary School in Gołcza is the biggest school of 5 Primary Schools in the area. In the local area it is very popular thanks to its achievements and success. There are 11 school classes where 222 children are taught the pre-school group. They are from 6 to 12 years old. Highly qualified staff consisting of 21 experienced and capable teachers, a speech therapist and an educator introduce the children to diverse fields of life and knowledge using valuable methods and forms of teaching. It makes our students well prepared for further stages of education.

The students of our school have excellent conditions of their education. The school gives them possibility of comprehensive, physical and personal development. The realization of school tasks is possible thanks to suitable facilities - well equipped classrooms, modern learning aids, and access to the contemporary sources of knowledge and information. We encourage the students to use technological and computer novelties, make use of a school library equipped with four computers and the Internet, a new well-equipped computer room and a canteen, Students can use sport facilities like a gym, a fitness room, a corrective-compensative room, a playground and a track. Our children spend their leisure time after classes in a common room which plays the educational and protective role as well.

Apart from educational activities our school provides the students with the attractive way of spending their free time thanks to a wide offer of extra classes that take place outside of lesson hours. Our school all the time cooperate with the local library and the cultural centre in Gołcza where children are able to pursue their interests and hobbies in many additional classes such as dance classes, keyboard classes, ballet and aerobic classes. Our kids very often take part in many subject competitions organised in our school or in other schools and towns. We can be proud of many significant achievements made by our students. They have won various external competitions. Our students are leaders in sport, succeed in Polish, Maths, Biology, History, English, as well as in Art and Music. The school organise a plenty of educational trips and outings encouraging comprehensive development of our students (they visit theatres, cinemas, workshops). We also cooperate with a theatrical group called “Art-Re” which every month comes to the youngest learners and gives a new and interesting performance.

The school traditions are cultivated through school events and ceremonies like the beginning of the school year, a special ceremony initiating the seven-year-old children to make a member of a school community, the Teacher’s Day, the Patron’s Day, the school Nativity Play, the Eve, national festivals, saying goodbye to the graduates, the Children’s Day Feast, the Valentine’s Day, the Mother’s Day and many others school events. The students and the teachers organise and participate in them what integrates our school community.

Parents take an active part in the school life. They are partners in all undertaking activities – they cooperate with teachers in organising class events, they care a lot about the look of the classrooms and corridors and they support the school financially as much as they are able to. The final effect of the cooperation are yearly family sport picnic called “The sport picnic with the Patron of the school” During the picnics the students together with their parents and teachers have the opportunity to participate in an array of challenging sporting activities.

The school co-operates with child's family environment within bringing up and various stages of development, undertaking the initiative to integrate local society and work with institutions and organizations. We take a part in different educational programmes like “I can swim”, Multimedia Educational Programme in “Kijów” cinema, the programme “All of Poland Reads to Kids”.

Through the headmaster and teachers’ efforts we succeeded repeatedly in receiving the state or private organizations’ funding for small grant projects. In the school year 2007/2008 we got a grant for the swimming project and the funding for the project of educational trips to the places of national memory following our Patron, John Paul II. In the school year 2008/2009 we got a grant for feeding not wealthy children in the action “Danone” called “Share your meal”. In the same year we have also started the partnership with a primary school in Chesterfield in England (e-mails, photos, Power Points presentations, students’ visits). The majority of planned actions were possible thanks to the parents, the local institutions and private sponsor from Gołcza area who supported us.

In our school works the School Government which organises the most of the school events and ceremonies (eg. The Women’s Day, St. Nicholas Day, carnival party, additional classes during winter holidays). The School Government also takes an active part in organising charitable events (eg. the mountain of coins, collection of toys and sweets for the poor children, the collection of food called “the Easter basket”, the sale of special candles for “the Heart” foundation and many others). There are different school organizations and associations for children: the School Government (for boys and girls), the League for the Preservation of Nature (LOP), the Polish Red Cross (PCK).

In our school you can find interesting teaching programmes, syllabus or educational or preventive programme. They include teaching, education and protective goals and contents, the ways of their realization and procedure of assessment. The pedagogical staff works on modern methods of teaching. Not only we try to teach our students but let them learn themselves. Our school tries to satisfy the needs of children. It is especially concerned about the safety of the children. It also creates proper lifestyle and morality.

Furthermore, we practice the basic roles of good interpersonal communication in contact with our students. Our main aim is to pass on them our knowledge and support their efforts in forming their personality. We would like our students to become worthy, responsible and well-qualified and happy people who are able to find their way in real life.

All of the factors mentioned above proceed in one direction – students feel well and safe in our school. Our school is a friendly institution which teaches children and teenagers sensitivity, develops their mental and physical abilities. This is the modern educational institution.
